The Black Sabbath fast riff
Posted by Metal Guitar Riffs in Cool Guitar Riffs on July 7th, 2010
Not for the faint hearted, this fast and furious metal guitar riff requires nimble fingers but is surely one of the most impressive pieces of heavy guitar both visually and aurally. If you find the other stuff easy then this is one to add to your arsenal.

Master of Puppets by Metallica riff
Posted by Metal Guitar Riffs in Cool Guitar Riffs on July 5th, 2010
Finally someone who has managed to get a decent distortion sound. This is one of the areas which I see people fail at all the time. Many bedroom guitarists create a horrible raspy, messy sound. Distortion isn’t about making a horrible noise, it’s about a well sculpted, compressed and powerful tone.
Anyway, I digress, here is the opening riff to Metallica’s Master of Puppets. One of my personal favourite metal songs of all time. It’s quite fast and involves heavy palm muting as many Metallica tracks do. Learn it slowly and cleanly and increase speed only when you have done so.

“The Metal” Riff
Posted by Metal Guitar Riffs in Cool Guitar Riffs on July 1st, 2010
This is the main riff from Tenacious D’s “The Metal”. It’s a little more difficult that the previous beginner stuff we have posted as the tempo is increased and there are several hammer ons and pull offs. However this is a great metal riff and the song repeats it over and over so once you have mastered it you can pretty much play half the song!
