Play Slayer’s Raining Blood Riff

While I have to admit that I was never a huge Slayer fan, their music was always around me in my youth and the main riff from Raining Blood just takes me back and gets my head banging in seconds! Here’s the video, enjoy!

Black Sabbath’s Paranoid Riff

You just can’t get enough Black Sabbath so here is Paranoid. It’s a quick and dirty lesson really but it will give you a decent idea and you should be able to clean it up and play it better then the video with a little practice.

Learn Iron Maidens Run to the Hills Guitar Riffs

This is part one of a 2 part lesson which covers all the guitar riffs in Run to the Hills. I was brought up on Maiden and when I bought my first guitar (aged just 11) I desperately tried to learn all their tracks. If only the internet had been round in those days to help.

These videos are high quality and providing you are at the right level they should really help you learn the main parts to this song. Next part of this lesson to follow tomorrow.

Learn the riff to Black Sabbath’s Iron Man

This has been called the greatest metal riff of all time and therefore is a must for your repertoire. It’s a simple riff based on power chords so shouldn’t take you long to pick up. Just concentrate on making it sound clean as these big distorted power chords can sound messy if not played cleanly and neatly.

Enter Sandman Intro Riff

When I was as old as this kid I was probably learning the exact same guitar riff (was the Black Album out 20 years ago?), so in my book that makes him the best person to teach you. He actually teaches it really well, doesn’t mess about and make it too long but keeps everything clear.

This Metallica intro riff is a classic as should be one of the first riffs for any self respecting metal guitarist to learn!

Smoke On The Water Riff lesson

Where better to start than Smoke on the Water? An easy riff, ideal for beginners. I’ve always used this as a starting point when teaching other people guitar. Most people play the first (power) chord as strings 3 and 4 open as opposed to the way he shows it but either way gives you the correct sound. He also give a little bit of info in inverted power chords!
